Iran Presented Most Papers in World Petroleum Congress

The Islamic Republic presented the highest number of papers among 60 other oil-rich nations in the 19th World Petroleum Congress in Madrid.

Director of research and technology of the National Iranian Oil Company, Mohammad Ali Emadi said 270 papers were presented to the secretariat of the congress, adding Iran was the chairman of three specialized-scientific committees of the congress.

He said an Iranian researcher, Gholamhossein Bahman-Nia, received the special award of the congress in the health, safety and environment (HSE) section.

Referring to Iran’s accomplishments in the congress, Emadi said the special plaque of the19th World Petroleum Congress was offered to Iran while Iranian officials conducted fruitful negotiations with international companies to invest in the country’s lucrative oil, gas and petrochemical sectors.

“Two main mechanisms were presented to the congress to increase oil production by 2020. The first solution is to use new technologies in the exploitation sector and the second is the participation of oil-consuming countries in the oil production process,” he said, adding that the second solution can be materialized in view of major investments.

Citing the president of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, Bahman-Nia said Chakib Khelil welcomed policies and suggestions proposed by the Iranian delegation to the congress in the oil, gas and petrochemical sectors.

Bahman-Nia, who is also the vice-chairman of Iran’s Global Oil Council, said his country is preparing to have a greater participation in the next World Petroleum Congress due to be held in the Persian Gulf state of Qatar.
