Kuwait is to import gas from Iran via an underwater pipeline in a bid to help the Persian Gulf Arab state meet its rising energy demand, Shana news agency has quoted Kuwaiti newspapers as repotting.

Kuwaiti daily al-Rai reported that Iran and Kuwait are discussing the price and amount of gas to be annually imported from Iran.

Daily al-Qabas also said that a Kuwaiti committee was scheduled to meet with Iranian officials in the next few days to discuss the details of the project, including the annual amount of gas to be imported from Iran.

Kuwait also wants to import gas from Iraq and Qatar.
