A desalination unit has become operational in west of Iran.

Iran’s Oil Minister Gholamhossein Nozari has inaugurated Gacsaran-2 desalination unit in Gachsaran oil field located in Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad province.

Senior Iranian oil manager including the managing director of National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) attended the inauguration ceremony on Thursday.

Some Rials 300 Bln has been invested in the project, carried out by Iranian experts.

Main objectives of the project include averting of the drilling of new wells, protecting the environment and increasing the production of the field at least by 11,000 bpd.
