3.07 bln barrels of oil and 1.5 bln cubic meters of gas have been discovered in this Iranian year (22 March 2008), said the National Iranian Oil Company's head of Discovery Department.

According to National Iranian Oil Company's website sayid Mahmud Mohades said, the discovery activities indicate the existence of hydro carbour in 4 new oilfields.

He added, the oil discovery in Jofeir Oilfield is one of the greatest discoveries in this Iranian year for it bears 750 Mln barrels of crude oil.

He further explained, Balarud Oilfield is another newly-discovered oilfield which bears some 1.3 Bln barrels of light crude oil.

He explained, the oilfield's gas layer also bears 1.5 Bln cubic meters of gas.

He also estimated that the Arvand Oilfield contains 520 Mln barrels of oil.
